Another week down.. Another week closer to CHRISTmas!!

HE HE!

I bet you can't tell what my favorite time of the year is??? I can't believe it is almost here. It seems that this year just flew by sooo fast.. I haven't even started shopping.. But I have decided that anyone we are buying for gets gift cards with the exception of Little Man, his momma, my mother and father in law and The Monkey. We know what The Monkey's "big" present is. But for obvious reasons I will not post it (Sohttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifrry Mohttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifnkey if you are reading this and thought you would find out! Love you! I can tell you it is NOT a trip to Cardiff.) Little man... Well, we are looking at ride on power wheels for him... Maybe ShaSha and Papaw can find one that is a Mustang... Oh yeah!! lol.

Work is going splendid... Everyday I love it more and more... Of course some think I am crazy for loving it but hey, it makes work so much better when you are doing something you love. I love talking with people and I love being able to help them.. Amazingly my checking account has not suffered from working here I have only managed to buy two containers of meal replacements. Chocolate and Pina Colada. I made the Pina Colada with Coconut milk and it was great. The Chocolate I used Almond milk. Also good. The only thing was they were sweeter than expected. but still very good.

I redid my hutch yesterday. It was very disheveled. So I took everything off and made it pretty.. I used the three sets of dishes I received for CHRISTmas last year... Two from my father and his gf and one set that I bought myself. Now I need to get my table cleared so that I can put my sewing machine up and finish Little Man's quilt.. Yes, I am still NOT done... I am almost though... I just have to finish the quilting and add the binding. I am half done with the quilting... He should receive the quilt by college graduation.. LOL!

wooo Finally able to sit for a few and post!

So sorry about slacking in my blog posts.. Working a full time job has kicked my butt with the sleeping schedule. I work at a call center as a Customer Service Rep Hybrid (means I can also take sales calls). Let me just say I LOVE my job!! It is so awesome.. My shift is 3pm until 1130pm. Perfect for me.. BUT I have a temporary shift change and am working 9am until 530pm. I have pretty much decided that my decision to take the later shift was the correct one.. I do not like the day shift as much.. But it is still fun.. Some of my friends have gone to the email/chat team because they would rather not have to talk to people but instead email or im them.. Not me! I love getting to talk to the people. Hearing their excitement, anger, disappointment etc... I love helping them out!

The Monkey has adjusted amazingly to high school. She loves it... She is making friends and loving life. She has her first boyfriend. He lives in Cardiff.. He is a cutie...

The Boy.. We love him very much...

Little Man has been starting to use the big boy potty! Yay! ShaSha ordered him his own big boy potty chair. I can't believe that end of next month he will turn two. Where did that time go?????

My friend and her daughters came and stayed. They now rent a unit in our complex (we have some that are rentable. Most are owner occupied). It works for everyone.


As for us.. Well, life is great.. Frankie also got a job working at the same call center. He is currently in training but seems to be enjoying it. Frankie and I incorporated meat back into our diets this week. We did seafood and yesterday hamburgers (grilled). The Monkey is not overly thrilled at this but we told her it was a decision that we made and we weren't going to force her to choose the same.

I am on a new routine now... I am employed. Yup, employed! I am in training now from the hours of 2pm until 1030pm. After training (6weeks) my normal schedule is Wed-Sun 3pm until 1130pm. I am totally in love with my job.. Enjoying training so much..

Wednesday I thought was going to be a bad day.. I was brushing my teeth and part of one my fillings came out. But the day turned out great!! I still need to get to the dentist to get it fixed but it really isn't bothering me (knock on wood!)

I have to say with me working my family is all pulling together. My hubby has been helping with the shopping and the chores (on his own) and Monkey is doing awesome helping out.

Tonight my friend and her three daughters are coming in from MA.. I am pretty excited. They will be staying with us for a little.

We finally broke down and admitted we need a second vehichle. With me starting work (oh yeah, I will tell you about that in a little) on the 5th of July we realized that yes vehicle number two can't wait. We will be going out today and looking.

My job... In May I sent a resume on a whim to HSN. Imagine my surprise on a Sunday night in June when I checked my email before bed and saw one from HSN asking if I wanted to set up a time for an interview. Hubby was not on call on Wednesday so I made it for then. I was offered the job during the interview! All I could think of was "I can't wait to call my mother in law." So after a background check and a drug test I start in July! I am so excited... It is like waiting for CHRISTmas morning...

What a year..

Frankie and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary on the 19th of June... It has been an amazing year... We had our great times and a few sad times...

For our anniversary we went away. We stayed at Snug Harbor from Friday until Monday... It was wonderful. We reserved the On Golden Pond Room and had a breakfast basket delivered daily... This inn is wonderful. The inn is ran by a husband and wife. All the rooms are named and decorated after plays they both appeared in. Our bed faced a window that looked out over the Boca Ciega Bay. The atmosphere is so relaxing. We swam in the pool (which is heated) and were able to enjoy drinks while doing so. I thought it was a riot when blackbirds got into the deep end of the pool to cool off (they stood on the ladder) and a little crane type of bird came and sat on the step next to where we were and just cooled himself off... Online reservation was easy (deposit equaled to one night stay is required), check in and out were problem free (check out we just called and said we were leaving. Left the key in our room) I love it here and am thinking of reserving our anniversary weekend there next year... This place is family and pet friendly (even though we went only as husband and wife. No human or furry children!) Grade- A++++

Our anniversary this year fell on Father's Day. Frankie always wanted to eat at this new restaurant down in Madeira Beach called Latitudes. I wish with all my might I had something positive to say about this place. The best thing was the appetizer which was a plate of cut vegetables and ranch dip... We ordered the Vegetarian Pasta was told it came with salad then after about 20 minutes we were told it didn't. Grrr... My pasta was very oily. Frankie had to flag the waitress down to get another beverage. The dining room was small but the bar area was even smaller. This day they were running a Make Your Own Bloody Mary (WHAT??). Grade- F

All in all it was a great weekend. We spent time at the beach but mostly we spent our time in the pool. So relaxing...

Finally have the top finished for Little Man's quilt. I have it pinned together with the batting and the backing. Then time for the binding.

I am pretty excited. I have a friend up in Massachusetts that is moving down here with her three daughters.

I can't believe how fast time has flown. My favorite niece is graduating high school on June 2, 2011. The Monkey starts high school in August 2011. I remember when these girls were born. It seems like just yesterday they were learning to walk.. Now one is a beautiful adult and one is a beautiful young lady.

He turned 19 today. It seems like just yesterday he was a little baby (well not a little baby since he was 9 pounds 1 oz at birth.)

Wildflowers of Terezin

This book was wonderful. The main characters are a Jewish Nurse and a Lutheran Pastor. The setting is during the German occupation of Denmark, in the Fall of 1943.

I downloaded this book three days ago and could not stop reading it. It took me two and a half days to read it. I even had to take my netbook with me when picking up Monkey from school today. I sat in the truck in the parking lot at the school reading. I could not put it away/down.

I know I have been gone for awhile. The laptop was acting up with the wireless adapter and Frankie's laptop died. Blue screen of death then wouldn't even reset to factory settings... So Frankie and I bought little netbooks. We love them... I love it because it is so easy to just put in the bag and take to my Board Meetings. So light! The only downsize is that it isn't optimized for game play so I haven't been able to play my farmville or mafia wars etc on facebook. I know terrible right?! I think I am at the end of the withdrawal period. LOL

Today I finally made a quiche. Monkey asked me to make one because the name sounds cool. So I thought I would surprise her and Frankie with a nice spinach quiche. I did cheat and not make my own crust. I used packaged crust.. I do need to get better with that. I have a recipe that my friend pointed out to me for Mini Apple Pies that I am dying to make...

I am still such a baby with heat... I swear if I had my way I would still live up in Massachusetts. This heat has even affected my sleep. I find that I get the best sleep in the living room with the a/c vent and two fans blowing straight on me... For some reason the a/c vent in the bedroom does not blow as well as the one in the living room. Thea/c unit is less than a year old. The duct work was checked and we were told it was fine.. But obviously there is an issue somewhere.

Today Monkey, my baby, is registering for high school. I can't believe that she is going to be a freshman... She is talking about going to the University of Tampa (I know she is not even in high school yet but this child young woman knows what she wants). She is planning on getting into the Honor Program so she can do a semester abroad at Oxford University in England. At the high school she will be attending they have to pick a major. She is picking Language Arts. Like her momma she loves English.

I will never forget that I was sitting on my couch and something told me to turn on Fox News and see if the President was speaking. I had seen that he was going to address the Nation at 2230 (1030PM). Well. It was 2241 and I was a little late so I thought I was going to miss it. Imagine my surprise, joy etc to see the word ALERT scrolling and the words BIN LADEN IS DEAD

He was killed a week ago BUT they were waiting for DNA confirmation. They got it!

I feel bad at rejoicing in the death of someone BUT to me this person was an evil evil person.

The President has just confirmed that American Troops killed Bin Laden.

Justice has been done.

Day 10

Something I am afraid of...


Flying. I HATE flying. It scares the bajeebers out of me.. I used to love to fly. Flew many times. Ever since I had children I liked it less and less until I finally hated it...

I was sidetracked all weekend and unable to post so I will try to post the last four days of blogs in one..

Day 6 Picture of something that make me happy.

Cross stitching is a love of mine. I enjoy working on the patterns. I take my time. I am known to have many projects in process at once. Sometimes the colors get to me so I have to switch projects. Right now I have 3 going. One for my grandson, a tropical one for us and the poem Footprints.


Quilting is something I got into just before leaving Massachusetts. This is a lap quilt I made that The Monkey "stole" from me. This is just the top. This was before it was finished. I have one in the works that I have been working on for almost 2 years. I had put it aside but am now getting back into the groove.

DAy 9 Picture of Friends

Well, unfortunately I have no pictures of me and my friends. When I moved to Orlando in 2008 I lost 99% of my belongings. But some of my friends I will mention-
Amy- we were together in our Senior year of high school. She is the only person from High School that I really talk to. She is also Godmother to The Boy.
Kris- My "sister". She and i have been friends since we were 11/12 years old. We met in Jr. High.
Mel- I met at a brief stint in a Jr. High in NY. We had lost touch once I moved but thanks to the miracle of Facebook we reconnected.
TT- She is my "hoochie". We met when The Monkey was just under 1. My favorite memory of her is the time she bought a bunch of balloons for Monkey's first birthday and it was wicked windy. She almost blew away...
Christine- We met when her son, Z, and the Monkey rode the bus to 1st grade. She is a great person.
Nicole- We went through a lot together in the short time we were together. We met 2007. Her children (human and furry) were allowed to just walk in to my home (as was she) and The Monkey and I were allowed to walk into hers. We spent many hours talking, doing things together, watching Army Wives, Madea movies, quilting. She is the one that turned me onto quilting. She bought me my first (and only) quilting bag (I still use it to this day!).

I miss my girlfriends so much. Four live in Massachusetts, one in New York and one in California.

Today's blog is Siblings.

I have 5 (kinda funny day 5 and I will be talking about 5 siblings.) younger brothers.

JJ- married w/3 children. Lives in Florida. His oldest graduates high school in June.
JE-married w/9 children. Lives in KY.
RL- married w/3 children. Lives in GA and VA.
JB- married w/2 children. Lives in NH.
JA- single. 1 child. Lives in NH.

We are made up from different marriages. JJ and I have the same mom and dad. JE and JB have the same mom and dad. When my father and JE and JB's mother were married he adopted them. My father and his second wife had a son and he is JA.
RL is my half brother. We share the same mother.

In our home there was 5 of us at one time. Me, JJ, JE, JB, and JA. After my father and his wife divorced JE, JB and JA went to live with their mother. JJ and I remained with our father.

Unfortunately because of the divorces and such our family did not grow up close. JJ and I are really close with our father. JE, JB and JA are close with their mother. RL is close to his father.

My parents.

My parents had two children in their short marriage. Me and 13 months later my brother.
I am sad to admit that I don't really know my mother. She is alive and lives in the panhandle of Florida. But that is all I have to say about her.

My father. He was a single parent from the time I was in mid 8th grade on. He did the best he could as a single father who was a full time military man. My father is now retired from the military and works as a bus driver in the Orange County School District of Florida. He is the type of person you either hate or love. There is no in between with him. He is old school. Our sense of humor is the same and many outside of our family don't get it.

I was reading Ich liess mein Herz in Deutschland's blog. I "met" her in a Christian online group I am on. I liked what she was doing on her blog and thought I would do the same thing on mine. Thanks Rena for sharing the 30 day blog challenge!

Introduce Yourself


I go by Lola. This is a special name between my husband and I. Frankie and Lola is the name of a Jimmy Buffet song. He is Frankie and I am Lola. Jimmy Buffett "brought" us together.
I am a 30 something newlywed. Mother of two. I have a wonderful 16.5 month old grandson that I refer to as "Little Man." I also have an angel grandson "Lima Bean" who was born and went home to his Heavenly Father this past November. I have a furry daughter named Gemma aka The Pup (or affectionately called Satan.) and a furry grandson named Tiger aka Professor Sebastian.

Best Night Sleep

* FYI- There is a curse word in here. I changed it in earlier posts but not this one. Also this book contains cursing.


Last night I had the best night sleep. Best in a very very long time. I actually slept from what I would say was 1030 pm until 5am. Didn't wake up once. Woke up feeling refreshed.. Oh I guess I should mention it was night two of my sleep study and I had a c-pap machine on. Talking with my sleep tech he told me that my apnea was really bad. He said that as soon as I would move just a tad bit I would have episodes. This would cause my legs to "run" and I would wake up. But even he said I did great with the machine. He told me that not all sleep apnea was weight related that some times it is age related. The older we get the more relaxed our muscles get. I told him he was better off sticking with the weight thing! LOL. However, I now have marks from where the leads were placed on my neck and shoulders. We are thinking it is from the adhesive on the pads. So back to the doctor on Monday for my results. Hopefully, it wont take too long to get a c-pap machine as much as I hate the way it looks I loved being able to sleep.

So this just reiterates my need to lose weight. I always said I never wanted to be on one of those machines to sleep. I am 3/4 of the way through the book Skinny Bitch. I have to say I love this book. It makes so much sense to me. Frankie and I went out shopping yesterday and started reading labels and realized it is harder than it looks. But we are preparing to be vegan by the end of the month. I haven't had diet soda in a few days. I did have a regular orange soda (sugar is so bad! But there is no caffeine in orange soda). Today I had my first iced coffee in a long time (my first coffee in over a week.). I am finding that I am not enjoying it as much. I will be switching over to organic decaf green tea. I can drink green tea with no sweetener added. I am buying Frankie a juicer for his birthday (he knows this already so it isn't a surprise.) and we are looking forward to fresh "squeezed" juice. We have no issue with vegetables in our diets. We do however, have an issue getting fruit. This is something I plan to work on. I have plans to purchase a chest freezer. When I do this I plan on starting to make meals a week in advance and freeze them. I figure this will also help since I want to start baking the bread we eat. I also plan on finding recipes for vegan cakes (for birthday's and such). I also will be working on "reworking" recipes into vegan recipes that we can eat.

My ultimate goal for my family is live off the "grid" as much as possible. We are talking about buying a house with a yard. If we do get this accomplished then I will try to get a vegetable garden growing. I also plan on having a clothesline. I love the smell of line dried clothes. I also am on the lookout for all natural ways to clean my house. I hate adding chemicals into the house. I bought a steam mop Thursday. Used it in my little kitchen for the first time yesterday. Holy Cow I was shocked at the dirt it picked up (I had just mopped my floors Wednesday).

I was disappointed that there were no backgrounds offered. Just a plain white. I definitely spent more than I wanted but I can't wait to get all the pictures back. The girl did a couple of collages and I can't wait to see them.

It hurt loading Little Man, his momma and her bf in a cab this morning to head to the airport. I was happy and sad. Happy because I know that his momma was missing her home and other family and friends. Sad because I wanted to keep them with me forever. It is so hard living more than 1000 miles away from them. But hopefully we can make a visit a yearly thing. Either us going up there or them coming down here.

Sad for this week to end..

My wonderful grandson, Little Man, and his momma and her boyfriend have been here for a week. It has been a great week. I am so sad to see them leave tomorrow morning. It has been so great having them here. The laughter of a little baby is so contagious! It is so neat to see the expression on my grandson's face as he experiences things for the first time. Bubbles, animal crackers, cookies, and so much PBS. It has been so great... Have I said that it was a great time. We didn't do much. We stayed around the house. We only have a small truck. We had more people than seats. So we went out in shifts. LOL.. Took Little Man to get his pictures done. I can't wait to get them back. They will be back on the 18th... We were only able to get ten pictures which only seven were keepers. 16 month old little boys do not sit for long periods of time.

-Updates-
-Mammogram- was clear
-Sleep study scheduled for Thursday and Friday nights.
-Back to sleep doctor on Monday for results.
-Been reading Skinny Bit#$. This book is funny. The language is frank. It hits the point though.
-We have decided that once all our dairy and eggs are gone then we will not be replacing them. We are going vegan. It will take a little more diligence but we feel it will be worth it.


The Monkey has received the following grades for the 4th grading period at her school. 104%, 102%, 100%, 100%, 100%, 98%, 97%.

Well, I didn't get the mammogram yesterday. I went to the place to register. Frankie was still in his scrubs with his name badge when we got there. The lady registering me asked him if they did mammograms at the hospital he worked at. He told her yes. She then told me that if I wanted to I could go to Frankie's hospital and have it done and it will be covered 100% by insurance. If I have it done where we were then I would have an out of pocket cost.. Hmm... $$ or free... Guess which one I took.. It was nice of that person to let us know that in advance.

The Monkey is thriving in public school. She has been in the school for 35 days. Yesterday they gave her the notice that they are pulling her out of her English class and putting her in an Honors English class... We are all really proud of her.

I am so excited... 8 days and Little Man, his momma and her bf will be here for a WHOLE WEEK! I haven't seen my sweet boy since the very beginning of August. I miss him so much.. Poor thing is sick right now so please pray for a quick recovery for him!

I am on the hunt for a book called "Skinny Bi@#$" and a book called "Skinny Basta$%" . I think we are ready to try a totally vegan diet. I told Frankie this weekend that I want to cut out all dairy from our diet. This would leave eggs in our diet.. Well, I can replace them too then! So after the Lactose free milk and dozen eggs are gone they will not be replaced. My father tells me about this great store called Whole Foods where he bought a lot of vegan items during his 5 months as a vegan. (he is once again a carnivore but I still love him!). Unfortunately there isn't one close enough to us.. I used to shop at Whole Foods years ago in Cambridge, MA when I was visiting. I always thought they were just a weird store for yuppies.. Sorry! I take it back!




I broke down and went to the doctor. I voiced my concern with her over the very high amount of people in my family with cancer. Currently my mother has "girl" cancer (that is all she will say)it had been in remission for years. My uncle (my father's brother) has esophageal cancer it was in remission but now it is back. Unfortunately this doesn't look good for him. My mother's sister is a breast cancer survivor. She has had a double mastectomy and so far so good. So after this was all said I voiced my concern. I asked if I had to wait until 40 to get a mammogram. The answer was- Absolutely Not! So I have an appointment this afternoon for my second mammogram. (The first one I had years ago and was because the doctor felt something that the other doctors said must have just been scar tissue from the reduction I had. So thankfully that one was clean.)

Homekeepers Journal Time!

This week’s Homekeeper’s Journal is about Spring Time Plans.

In my kitchen, I plan to ….. cut the process foods out.

Plans with the children ….. Make sugar cookies with her.

Plans with the husband ….. House hunting. Spoiling our grandson.

Plans for my house ….. Spring Cleaning! I want to get the condo totally cleaned

Garden Plans ….. Well living in a condo we have no garden :-( BUT hopefully if we can get a house with a yard then I will have a garden! Flowers and veggies/fruits.

Other Plans ….. I want to work on my cross stitch. I have a nice Tropical Themed one that I want to get finished. I need to go buy some materials for the two I was working on. The fabric has become stained and destroyed.

So excited!!!

I am so excited! My grandson and his momma are coming for a visit!!!! They are planning on coming down beginning of March... AHHH it is so far away! LOL I am so impatient. I haven't seen them since the beginning of Aug... He has since learned to talk and walk! Oh it is time for Sha Sha and Papaw and Auntie to do some major spoiling. They (Papaw and Auntie) haven't seen Little Man and his momma since June 2010.

I have begun a self imposed walking routine (which I also imposed on The Monkey! LOL). We now walk to her school in the morning and then I walk home. This makes for a 3.8 mile walk round trip for me. I have an application on my phone that calculates the distance, calories burned, pace and etc for me... I love it. Last week there were only 4 school days so that made 15 miles I walked. Same for this week. But a regular week will be 18.8 miles a week.. I plan to find a little way to bump it up to 4 miles a day. But I want to do a couple more weeks at 3.8. Maybe! Patience isn't my strong suit! LOL I think I will have to buy a little umbrella stroller (or as they say where I am from- strollah. :-) ) so while Little Man is here he can go on the walk with me in the morning (because unfortunately Auntie will still have to go to school.)

I have a problem that is actually really funny. The Monkey laughs at me (ok so did hubby when I told him). My problem is when I think in my mind I speak with my Boston accent. When I talk very very rarely does it come out. Do any of you that read this blog think in an accent different from where you live? We also have a running joke here that the Pup will learn to bark in an English accent because she watches so much BBC. I know we are weird but we are original! LOL

Lately I have been noticing that a few people that I know have been victims of mean people hiding behind names (some false) on the internet. Please remember (not that any of you would do it on purpose) that mean words really do hurt. I try to live by the adage that all it takes is a little smile or nice word from a stranger to change the life of someone. You never know whose life you have changed. I try to explain this to The Monkey as we walk to school and I greet the crossing guards with a smile and a kind word and I thank them.
